Subject: Mock draft Cowboys

First off I want to say I enjoy the site. Looking at the 2006 mock draft I see you picked a WR for Dallas. I would of agreed with the pick before the Cowboys signed TO & gave Terry Gleen a raise. I'm thinking the Cowboys will end up drafting OLB Bobby Carpenter. Dallas needs depth at OLB, and their starting OLB was hurt most of last season. Carpenter seems to have great size for a 3-4 defense. I think the Cowboys could pick up a good WR in the 2nd or 3rd like : Maurice Stovall, Derek Hagan, Martin Nance. I also dont see the cowboys going after a safety in the first rd either. My guess would be OL, NT or OLB, my favorites that could be at 18 are : Winston Justice, Bobby Carpenter, Haloti Ngata. I wouldnt mind seeing the Cowboys trade down and pick up another late pick (3rd/4th). Thanks for your time, and keeping up the good work.

Lou: I can see your argument... if Justice or Ngata fall to Dallas' spot. I think there's almost no chance of Ngata being there, and only a small chance that Justice would slide that far (and Justice has been one of those "shooting up the board" players in the past few months.)

The problem with Owens and Glenn is their age; Dallas needs an injection of youth at the position. It is also true that a player like Bobby Carpenter would be nice to have, but with his size he would be more the prototype for a 4-3 defense's OLB than a 3-4's. Moreover, Dallas just last year used a first rounder on an OLB (Demarcus Ware), who as a hybrid OLB/DE seems to fit the 3-4 OLB mold much more than Carpenter. If Dallas is going OLB at #18, someone like OLB Chad Greenway might be a better fit for the system.
