Subject : Cards Draft
If the Cards take a RB or CB with the first pick, Will Denny be forced by Management to take the local hero Andrew Walters, QB ASU, in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, they need to increase local interest in the team before their new stadium is finished. What is the latest hot rumor about trading Shelton for a draft pick and what round pick would he be worth.
Lou: I'd hate to think that a player would be selected based solely on regional interest. What is this, the XFL?!?
Seriously though, drafting a RB (Cedric Benson?) at #8, then getting a CB like Corey Webster toward the top of round two and then snagging Andrew Walter in round three... that'd be a hell of a day one, now wouldn't it? What Cardinals fan would be unhappy with that?
As for L.J. Shelton, the Bears had interest in him, but that died when Chicago signed former Titan OT Fred Miller. The hot rumor all along has been a Shelton-for-Travis Henry deal. When you also consider that Henry has been shopped for a second-rounder, one could surmise that Shelton could be acquired for a second round pick himself. But in reality, the asking price might be a little lower. Dennis Green, at least in the media, has promised that Shelton won't be cut. If Arizona can get a second round pick for him, the Cards should be happy, though if the team can get Travis Henry it'll open up all sorts of possibilities with that #8 overall pick (Antrel Rolle perhaps?)

Subject: Giants
Who do you see the Giants picking in the second round now that they signed Plaxico Burress and dont need to address the wide recievers until maybee the third when you can get a guy like Mathis from Hampton? Do they go CB, LB, RB, let me know what you think.
Lou: Signing Burress was a nice start for the Giants, but you're right that they can't think he'll settle all their problems at WR. I could see the Giants using a 3rd or 4th rounder on someone like Mathis or another receiving prospect.
As for the second round pick, I'd say CB would be the most likely possibility, given the depth at that position in the draft. The Giants landed MLB Antonio Pierce and OT Kareen McKenzie in free agency, which helped with two big needs the team had. The Giants have Mike Cloud to backup Tiki Barber, and they might draft another RB at some point, maybe a day two pick. But I get the feeling that the Giants are moving in the right direction, especially with the way they managed to sign Burress after initially being unable to bring him on board.
