Draft King Analysis
The Giants landed their man, trading Phil Rivers and several picks to secure Eli Manning. Kerry Collins will soon be gone, and it appears that Eli Manning may be the Week One starter for the Giants.
New York picked up Chris Snee in Round 2, which will help on the offensive line, but much like San Diego the Giants did not address the glaring need at the offensive tackle position (unless you consider Drew Strojny addressing the need, which I don't). But at least with Snee, there will be some upgrade with the o-line for Manning. He'll need it with the defenses that he'll be facing this season.
Some people think New York gave up too much for Manning. I don't think so -- Eli Manning is a special QB, one who can carry the Giants to great things down the line. The price for greatness can be steep, and in the short-term the Giants may have to pay with some losing seasons. But remember how Tom Coughlin got things in order in no time when the Jaguars debuted in 1995 -- he'll now face a similar test under a much more intense microscope.
