Draft King Analysis
The Packers came into the draft with needs at DE and LB... and those needs went totally ignored. The situation with Mike McKenzie apparently has degenerated to the point where Green Bay felt it needed to get some CB help in the draft, but I don't know that Ahman Carroll and Joey Thomas are the answers. Yes, Carroll is a talented player, but then getting Thomas on top of that? Questionable move. B.J. Sander was a great punter at Ohio State, but selecting him at #87 (over Ohio State teammate Darrion Scott, a DE who went one pick later to Minnesota) seemed quite odd.
I do like the selections of Donnell Washington and Scott Wells, both of whom I think are underrated players. But overall, the Packers took a very odd approach to the draft, one that didn't seem to fit their needs well at all.
