Draft King Analysis

I have to credit Scott Massey, who helped me with the 2004 NFL Draft Commentary, with pointing out just how nasty the Cardinals defense would be looking right now had they drafted Sean Taylor over Larry Fitzgerald at the #3 spot. Wow.

But, despite that, the Cardinals cleaned up. Fitzgerald is an amazing talent, and with him, Anquan Boldin and Bryant Johnson all as young talented WRs on board, they have explosive possibilities at WR in Arizona.

Dockett at #64 was a total steal, and Smith at #135 will help on the pass rushing tip. I like those moves.

The only troubling thing for me is that the Cardinals did not address their RB need in the draft. As nice as Smith was at the #135 spot, I think Michael Turner at #135 would've been an even better pick.

But overall, it's hard to argue with the results of the draft. Dennis Green got the guy he wanted in Fitzgerald, the Cards plugged a bunch of holes, and the team seems to be headed in the right direction.
