Today and tomorrow are going to be two busy days in the NFL. As ProFootballTalk.com points out, restricted free agency tenders must be made by 4 p.m. ET today. Earlier today the Texans offered TE Owen Daniels the highest possible tender for a restricted free agent, a one-year contract for $2.792 million. Daniels can sign with another team, but Houston had the right to match any offer. If they opt not to match an offer, the Texans would receive first-and-third round picks from whatever team signed Daniels.

Unrestricted free agency begins at 12:01 a.m. tonight, and there is a flurry of action from teams trying to retain players slated for the open market. Or, like in the case of the Dolphins, they made a preemptive move by signing 27-year-old free safety Gibril Wilson, who was released last week by Oakland. Wilson signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with a reported in $8 million guaranteed money. The move seems to suggest that the Dolphins will see safeties Yeremiah Bell and Renaldo Hill, both of whom started at safety for the Dolphins in 2008, hit the open market.

Subject: aaron curry

any chance the raiders take aaron curry...i think if we got aaron curry it would complete our linebacking core for years and help against the run........

Lou: Aaron Curry would be a great addition to the Raiders, but I think the odds of him being on the board at #7 are slim. There are a few mocks out there that have Curry falling out of the top five, but if that happened I suspect that Cincinnati would bypass its offensive tackle need and snap Curry up in a heartbeat.

It's most likely that the Raiders will either go for an offensive tackle or a wide receiver (perhaps Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin), but a talent like Curry at #7 would represent a great value for Oakland, albeit one at a position where Oakland already has quite a bit of talent.

Subject: Cowboys has 51, 69..

Thanks for your posts. Its really good to read intelligent speak on football. I just wanted to clarify something. You alluded to Dallas only having one selection in 3 rounds and that's not entirely accurate. Dallas has a pick in rd 2(51) and a pick from Cleveland in rd 3(69), that's 2 picks in three rounds. Dallas also has the first pick in round 4(from Detroit).

My thought: It would be great if Dallas could get Patrick Chung at (51) and Ray Lewis in free agency.. If Dallas can get Patrick Chung at 51, a strong DL or ILB at 69 and a backup quarterback at the first pick of rd 4, Dallas fans would happy...

Lou: I stand corrected on what I wrote about Dallas; not only do the Cowboys have Cleveland's third round pick, they also have Detroit's fourth-round pick (acquired during last year's draft). So, while Dallas has only one first-day pick (in the era of day one having only two rounds), the Cowboys have Cleveland's third rounder and two fourth round selections to work with in the draft.

What you laid out with Dallas as far as draft plans go is logical. If Chung is on the board at #55, he would be a good fit with the Cowboys, though what Dallas does there might hinge on if the team is able to redo the contract it has with SS Roy L. Williams.

As for inside linebackers, that again depends on if Dallas signs Ray Lewis in free agency. If that happens, I'd think that Dallas would be less inclined to draft an ILB in the third round. But if not, then perhaps an ILB like LSU's Darry Beckwith or Pitt's Scott McKillop might be a consideration for Dallas.
