I know it is incredibly early, but I would love to see the Bucs take Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame. I see him kind of like a John Lynch that Tampa never should have let go. We will have to see how the season pans out for ND, and Tampa, but picking from the heart I hope to see Z playing in Pewter.

Lou: Tom Zbikowski to the Bucs would be interesting. He probably won't end up as a first round pick, but he has great speed, hits hard, could possibly return kicks, and has a winning mentality that would benefit any team. The Bucs landing him in round two would be good value and a way for the team to fill multiple needs with one selection.

As for John Lynch, the Bucs made a decision to go with a youth movement and Lynch fell victim to that, though at the time the move made sense. Remember that Lynch turned 33 in 2004 and that he had been through 11 years of NFL wear and tear when the Bucs opted not to pursue him in free agency following the 2003 season. His longevity and success with Denver late in his career has been impressive, though atypical. Only in hindsight is it obvious that he had more gas in the tank than most observers realized.

Can Glenn Dorsey play Nose Tackle, I see Dallas' main needs being WR, CB and NT.

The best pure NT's are Red Bryant and B. J. Raij which are 2nd and 3rd rounders.

I see Dallas trading down a few spots and getting WR DeSean Jackson or CB Antoine Cason and then drafting the opposite with one of their other picks are packaging them to to trade up in the 1st. and tab either WR's Mario Manningham or Early Doucet, CB's Justin King or Aqib Talib.

I guess you also think that Dallas is going to miss the playoffs. I know that have a strong chance of winning the NFC. So I think they will be picking later in the first with their second overall pick

Lou: At 6'2" 300 pounds, Glenn Dorsey would be a great addition to Dallas' interior defensive line. Could he play nose tackle? I think so, but he could end up playing DE in a 3-4. He's too talented to pass up, even if someone like Texas DT Frank Okar (or Texas A&M's Red Bryant or BC's B.J. Raji, as you mentioned) might be a more natural fit as a 3-4 NT. Dorsey's tackling skills are unmatched by any other DT prospects in the draft. Remember that in San Diego, where Wade Phillips was last season, 6'3" 290 pound Luis Castillo has become a force from the DE position in the Chargers' 3-4 defense, and there's no reason that such success couldn't be emulated by Dorsey in Dallas. That doesn't solve the NT situation per se, but it could allow the Cowboys to get improved production from its D-line.

It seems way too early to think about trading down considering that the season hasn't even started yet, but I can see an argument toward Dallas taking a WR with the Cleveland pick. As for CB, not so much; there's already a large chunk of money invested in the Dallas secondary. I could see the Cowboys using a day one pick on a corner, though -- perhaps a good value pick in round two or three.

And as for the Cowboys at the #2 overall spot, that is the pick they acquired from Cleveland in the trade in the 2007 Draft where Cleveland moved to take a free-falling Brady Quinn, which means Dallas has two first rounders in 2008. Cowboys fans in the know will be cheering against the Browns this year, as the worse the Browns do, the higher the acquired pick will be for Dallas.

As I've written pretty clearly on the page, my off-season NFL projections are based on the Las Vegas over/under for wins. I think Dallas has every opportunity to make the post-season, and if you look closely you'll note that as of my 8/22/07 mock draft, I have the Cowboys listed in a position where they'd be in the playoffs (Vegas says: Bears, Eagles, Seahawks, Saints, Panthers, Cowboys.) That's the oddmakers talking, not me, but I like the Cowboys as a playoff team at this point.
