Great site and I love the way you incorporate your readers into the site with the mail bag.

There are a number of teams who were affected by injuries this past season. Toomer and Arrington from the giants, Rucker from the panthers, Jones from the lions, every safety besides Lynch on the broncos (along with the Williams tragedy and Lynch aint too young himself, and Kearse from the eagles. All these players are either long in tooth or have never proven themselves in the first place. Who is goin to get replaced via the draft?

Also I don't see the giants goin rb in round one unless a lynch or peterson falls to them. Which running back do you think will fill the back up role behind Jacobs?

Lou: My anticipation with the Giants is that Brandon Jacobs will be the primary RB for the team in 2007, with a strong likelihood that the Giants will bring in a speedy backup (either by free agency or in the draft) to serve as a change-of-pace. Jacobs played backup to Barber because of Barber's great ability, not because of a lack of talent on Jacobs' part.

I concur that it seems unlikely to me that the Giants would go RB in round one when more pressing needs are out there. You could see the Giants wait until round day two and then take a RB like Lorenzo Booker, if Booker lasts that long.

The murder of Darrent Williams shocked and saddened football fans around the world. Unfortunately for the Broncos, beyond just the emotional loss of having a teammate die, there is the administrative aspect of having to find a suitable corner to take Williams' spot. Is Domonique Foxworth ready for that role? He may have to be.

As for John Lynch, he's not in his prime anymore, but he had more tackles last year than he did in any season since 2001. And if Foxworth does move to the other starting corner spot, that would leave a huge hole at strong safety. If the Broncos dip into the free agent market for a defensive lineman or two (Justin Smith, Patrick Kerney, etc.) then they might decide to go with a safety at #21. Adding Michael Griffin to the secondary could be quite beneficial for Denver.

Subject: Vikings Cap space

I thought the Vikings had less than $25 million but researched it and one web site says they indeed have $31 million. Good job. Also I like your concept for the Vikings filling up their wide receivers corps. If they added Garcia also, that would seem to upgrade their offense tremendously. He already has worked with Stallworth last year in the Eagle's system which must be similar to the Viking's system. That still leaves the #1 pick; perhaps it would be a lineman Levi Brown or DB Reggie Nelson. They need more depth in defensive backfield, if teams are going to continue to throw and not run. Also Winfield and Sharper probably don't have many years left.

Lou: There is a rumor going around that the Vikings might try to trade the #7 pick (and other considerations) to Arizona for Larry Fitzgerald. That seems like a trade the Cardinals wouldn't want to make, as Fitzgerald is a great receiver who's just now hitting the prime of his career. I suspect that this might have stemmed from reports that Fitzgerald didn't want to talk with new Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt until mini-camp, a claim that Fitzgerald vehemently denied on his website.

I'm not a salary cap expert by any means, but it would make sense to me for Minnesota to address the QB spot with some of that free agent money (be it a backup for Tavarias Jackson or someone to compete with him and/or start over him to begin the season.) Garcia will be interesting to watch on the open market. His age should prevent him from getting a huge deal, but his success in Philly last year cannot be overlooked.

Garcia and Stallworth would be a solid duo to bring in, and you're right that the two were both Eagles and thus have familiarity with each other's game.

Let's say that the Vikings are going to go WR at #7: would they actually take Dwayne Jarrett over Ted Ginn? I've really struggled over this one. Jarrett impressed me greatly at USC, particularly with his ability to take a hit and hold onto the ball. One problem that many WRs have in making the transition to the pros is that they can't get the separation they could in college, as everyone in the NFL is fast. Jarrett doesn't get by with his speed, but instead with his size, catching ability, and concentration. In my opinion, that's what the Vikings need more than the elite (4.32 40) speed of Ginn.

Great job, still. Second email from me. I'll agree with one of your previous emailers on the 'Boys pick. I don't feel they'd go O-line in the first round, especially with their recent 'success' of drafting O-linemen early(Rogers, Peterman). I really hope they would grab Dwayne Bowe at 22, since you have him going at 23 anyway (and because I'm a huge Tigers fan). He's big and has decent speed and would be a huge upgrade in the slot over Crayton. Looks like they may stick with the 3-4, since the word is that Wade Phillips is the new coach. I'd still love to see a trade to move up to grab LaRon Landry, but I know it probably wouldn't happen. Do you think if Quinn were to be this year's Rodgers that the 'Boys would grab him at 22?

Lou: The Cowboys going with Dwayne Bowe is a distinct possibility. There are a number of talented WRs that are first round caliber, and while Dallas likely won't have a shot at Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Jarrett, or Ted Ginn, Jr., they could very well take a player like Bowe or Sidney Rice or Robert Meacham.

Much depends on what Dallas does in free agency. If a multiple-role filling offensive lineman can be obtained, perhaps the Cowboys will use a later round pick on OL and instead go wide receiver in round one.

As for Brady Quinn falling to them, that seems highly unlikely, but in the draft you never know. Would he really get past Jacksonville? I'd think that the Cowboys would have to consider Quinn if he's on the board, as while the team could use a veteran backup to Tony Romo, a player of Quinn's caliber would have to warrant serious consideration.

With Wade Phillips coming in as Dallas' new head coach, it seems that the 3-4 defense will be retained. This is helpful to Dallas from a personnel standpoint, as it means there won't need to be a massive overhaul or players having to learn a new defensive scheme.
