Subject: Draft Question
What do you think of Bunkley out of Florida St. Some experts are saying he could rise up to #12 to the Browns. Also do you think Manny Lawson can last till the second for the Browns.
Lou: This is an overall down year for Defensvie Tackles, and Brodrick Buckley is a DT who gives full effort on every play. Buckley could play DE or ever NT in a 3-4 from what some scouts say (it's varied depending on who you believe), and at 6'3" 305 he would be a good run-stopper for the Browns. With his great size and strength, I tend to think NT more than DE, but it all depends on what a team needs/wants. But because of injury problems that Bunkley has gone through, I don't see him going in the Top 12, thought it's probably unlikely that he'd be there in round two for Cleveland.
As for Manny Lawson, I could see him being there for the Browns in round two. I think the better move for Cleveland is to go for a high-end LB in round one, then potentially get someone like Lawson in round two.

Subject: Mock draft board
I have question for you Mr. Pickney I was looking at your mock draft board
and you had the Seahawks taking Stovall from Notre Dame that is ridiculous,
especially the way the rest of your board was set up. You had the Seahawks
letting that Ryans kid go by, when they could use another strong side
linebacker now that they released Sharper. Plus you didn't even have that
Kiwanikis kid From B.C. on the board if that DE was left when the 31st pick
came the Seahawks would gobble him up like hot cakes. I don't expect the
Seahawks to take an offensive player until the third round unless somebody
special slips by, hell the Seahawks found Tatupu in the second round last
year he slipped by(the real Defensive rookie of the year considering what he
did and meant to the Seahawks)everyone but Tim Ruskell. Anyhow please look
at the teams and their needs before writing that stuff. By the way Muarice
Stovall isn't that good let alone special enough for ANY team in the first
round. If he goes in the first round I'll encourage you to post this email
on your website posterizing my bigmouthedness for everyone to see. Have a
good day.-Dennis Westlake Seattle WA. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lou: Interesting take. Believe me, I do consider a team's needs before making a prediction. The Stovall pick represents two time-honored traditions of the draft: a team picking for need, and a team picking a player higher than expected. Tatupu was a great pick for the Seahawks last year, and all the more reason that they could pick up a veteran OLB in free agency to replace Sharper and then go with a rookie at WR, where some youth would be nice. But maybe DeMeco Ryans would be tempting if he fell that far.
You do bring up an interesting point with Mathias Kiwanuka in that he has mysteriously fallen out of the first round in many mock drafts. I think Kiwanuka is a great prospect, and his slide has puzzled me. But my projection is not on who I think is the best, but instead who I think will go where.

Hi i was just gonna point out that denver just signed Matt Lepsis to a contract extension. So I wouldn't think they would go for a tackle in the first round. Just me 10 cents.

Lou: I'm not sure if this e-mail was sent tonight or three nights ago (though GMail is very good about getting mail here quick), but either way it's valuable information. That's good news to the OT-needy teams in the draft.
