Subject: Cowboys pick?
I can surely see the Merriman pick at #11. However Crowder at # 20 doesn’t make any sense since they already have a middle linebacker in Nguyen. Wouldn’t a RT, OLB, WR or Safety make more sense?
I believe the Cowboys will draft Merriman or Johnson (OLB) at #11 if they are on the clock. And if Williamson is there at #20 it’s a nobrainer and if not they select Mark Clayton later in the 1st round by trading down.
Lou: Point taken on Crowder. The Cowboys still could change to a 3-4 defense, but I think the window for that has closed. But if Crowder is on the board there... who knows.
Here's the problem for Dallas as I see it: I don't know if either Troy Williamson or Mark Clayton will be on the board by the time pick #20 rolls around. If the Cowboys do draft defense at #11 (and why not if Merriman is on the board?!?), they might find the shelves a bit bare come pick #20. Maybe at that point the team will decide to make Merriman an OLB and go with Erasmus James or Dan Cody to fill the DE role and plan to get a next-tier WR at #42 (second round). We'll see.

Subject: jags
Jags just signed marcellus wiley… might need to change the erasmus james pick. Man, you almost need to shuffle everyday!
Lou: That is the burden of free agency: what makes perfect sense on a Monday becomes an implausable prediction on Tuesday due to one signing. This sort of thing is why doing a regularly updated two round draft is something that I'm not ready to do at this point. Trying to work out all the possibilities, coupled with all of the free agency moves, trades and statements made by those in the know, makes it a very challenging task.
