Subject: detroit lions draft

Hey just checking out your updated mock draft and I have a problem with it. I don't see the Lions who just signed Kenoy Kennedy the past week and have Terrence Holt and Brock Marion on the roster drafting Thomas Davis with the 10th overall pick. I think this pick would be better used on Alex Barron, or a D-Line such as the guy from Maryland whose name escapes me right now...or Erasmus James if he's there. This would either fill a need on the OT position due to the resigning chances of Stockar McDougle not looking very promising or it would give us a solid pass rushing threat with the DE. Let me know what ya think!!! I enjoy your site and the insight that you give

Lou: You raise an excellent point, Geoff. The signing of Kennedy filled the strong safety spot, but I was thinking that with Brock Marion at 35 and past his prime, the Lions would still want someone to fill the free safety spot. But you're right about Terrence Holt (the brother of Torry Holt) being in there as someone who could step in and start, and that does change things for the Lions, particularly if Alex Barron does fall to them at #10. Look for an updated mock draft later tonight that will address that.

As far as something else that could impact the draft, I hear more and more rumblings that DE Darren Howard will be traded from New Orleans to Dallas. It makes perfect sense; Dallas had hinted that it would trade one of its two first round picks, a DE like Howard would fill a huge need for the Cowboys (though it would all but close the door on any thoughts of Dallas going to a 3-4 defense this year), and if the trade involves the #21 pick, it would seem to eliminate Dallas taking a WR at #12. That raises the question of: who would they take there? If Mike Williams and Braylon Edwards are gone, would the Cowboys take someone like Troy Williamson at that spot? I say: don't count it out...
