2025 NFL Mock Draft
I've heard anecdotal stories from Nashville friends about sticker shock from Titans season ticket holders balking at the high prices for seat licenses for the forthcoming new stadium. It's been noted to me that the timing with the team slumping has not been helpful for some of those people on the fence.
The Browns are paying a heavy price now for taking a big risk on Deshaun Watson in a March 2022 trade with Houston.
It's the biggest QB salary cap albatross since JaMarcus Russell in Oakland. This is not a normal situation and it can't be fixed in one year.
Cleveland should have great leverage for trading down if both the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are still as QB-hungry on night one of the draft as they appear to be now.
This anticipates the Giants trading up one spot to draft either Sanders or Cam Ward.
The NFL is a copycat league, and with Jayden Daniels taking the Commanders to the NFC Championship game as a rookie in 2024, the expectations for top QB draft prospects will remain high.
We're also in an unprecedented time where Carson Beck had more agency over his location and income by staying in college (transferring from Georgia to Miami) than he would've by declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
The big question for wherever Hunter ends up is: how will he be utilized? It can't be stressed enough how unusual it is for one person to be both the top wide receiver and top cornerback prospect in the same draft, which is how some evaluators see it with Hunter.
Offensive tackle and EDGE rusher are two other viable options here for New England as well.
GM Trent Baalke is out, and suddenly there's a giant neon sign flashing for the Jags drafting Warren here. It's too bright for me to ignore.
Warren set school records at Penn State for tight end receptions/yardage and won the 2024 John Mackey Award, given annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football.
Johnson is a high-end talent at cornerback. Travis Hunter is an anomaly, but beyond Hunter there's a notable gap between Johnson and the rest of the field on most evaluation lists.
Another option is Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. As much as Jeanty has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys over the past few months, that can't happen if Jeanty is off the board by the time Dallas goes on the clock.
Part of the appeal of Williams as a prospect is his ability to fit multiple schemes effectively. If the Jets opt for a pass rusher here, they'll have several great prospects from which to choose.
Scourton played well in College Station in 2024 after transferring to Texas A&M from Purdue. This is a very strong draft at EDGE.
Pearce is a skilled blitzer and is well-rounded against the run. He's also effective at dropping into pass coverage when needed.
In this mock, the Bears end up with their choice from the entire offensive line draft class. Chicago could alternately look for defensive help here at either EDGE or defensive tackle.
