Night one of the 2015 NFL Draft is just three days away. Soon enough, round one will be underway, taking place this year in Chicago after spending the past few decades in New York City. And perhaps it's just a coincidence that Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota and Amari Cooper are all no-showing the event on the first year in the modern era that the draft hasn't been in NYC. Regardless, their absences don't help the perception that being outside of Radio City Music Hall hurts the big feel of the event to at least some degree.

But it's still the NFL Draft, and it wouldn't matter if it's in NYC, Chicago, or Alabaster, Alabama -- you would be watching it regardless, wouldn't you?

Before the bullet points, it's a Draft King throwback -- a reader note from Twitter.

Lou: I concur that running back is not a top need spot for the Lions, and they would be better off in my estimation by not drafting Georgia RB Todd Gurley in round one. There are a number of quality offensive linemen who will be on the board when Detroit's pick comes up at #23. Or, alternately, they could go with a defensive player like Washington CB Marcus Peters there. Detroit will have some interesting options if they keep the pick.

As of this writing, I now have Gurley going to Arizona one pick below the Lions at #24. But that is also subject to change. I have been dismissive about the notion of a team using a higher-than-expected pick on Gurley, though at some point his ability and potential will be too much to pass up. That's true even for a guy at a devalued position coming off a torn ACL in his left knee.

In the stretch run leading up to the draft there has been buzz galore about Gurley going in the top 20. Him going to the Jets at #6, as some have projected, seems unlikely. But if he were to be snapped off the board by San Diego at #17, it wouldn't exactly be a shock.

• Right now it's looking like it will be Florida State QB Jameis Winston going #1 to Tampa Bay and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota going #2 to Tennessee *or* a team trading into that spot to get him. USC DT Leonard Williams is a quality player, but he has been faded as of late by people who know certain things, and more importantly indications with the Titans suggest they won't take Williams at that second spot if they end up keeping the pick.

• You could see Jacksonville pull a surprise at #3 and take Williams, but it looks more and more likely that the Jaguars will instead select Florida DE/OLB Dante Fowler, Jr. That creates an interesting scenario in turn for the Raiders, who seem to be in the position to fill a colossal hole at wide receiver with their pick of the 2015 class at that position. Williams being in play changes the dynamic, since he would seemingly fit that Oakland defense so well at another need spot for the team.

Moreover, if Oakland does opt to go wide receiver, will it be Amari Cooper or Kevin White? Cooper I would argue is seen by most prominent evaluators as the top wideout prospect, but White is a special player as well and might actually appeal more to the Raiders.
